We
ride on Sundays, usually
having a cafe stop in the morning or afternoon and stopping for a snack
at a pub or cafe at lunchtime; we usually return home around
4-5 pm. It is possible to simply do a half-day ride if you can't
spare a whole day.
In 2005 members toured in the United Kingdom and abroad, including CTC and other rallies in Leicestershire, Suffolk & Yorkshire and the Semaine Federal in Oleron St Marie, France. In
2006 members attended the CTC Birthday Rides in Scotland and
the Semaine Federal in the Loire Valley, France. Members also ride Audax
UK events and other challenge rides, such as the Phil and Friends
in the Peak District.
We also organised some
cycle tours based on Youth Hostels in England and attended several
cycling rally events including the Meriden Rally, the East Midlands
Camping Rally and the Mildenhall Rally The Club is part of the Right to Ride Network - the CTC volunteer campaign network - working for all cyclists at the local level. The local representative for Milton Keynes, North Buckinghamshire and South Northamptonsire is Philip Ashbourn. Please contact Phil if you have specific problems or if you wish to help in this work. The Milton Keynes South Midlands expansion is bringing huge changes for local cyclists and it is important for the future of cycling in this area that we campaign for change that is for the better. The Club also participates in the Easy Riders - Discover Milton Keynes by bicycle programme promoted by Milton Keynes Parks Trust in partnership with local cycling organisations. This programme runs from Spring to Autumn and details are contained in the Park Trust Events booklet produced annually. Details of the CTC led runs are shown in the easy riders section of this site; these rides are ideal for those who wish to see our local attractions at a gentle pace, whilst at the same time building up fitness for longer rides. We have regular 'pub' nights where members meet up for a chat and we arrange the occasional curry night (details in the club nights section). What
sort of bikes do we ride?
- most of us ride touring type bikes with 12 or more gears; people
sometimes come out on mountain or hybrid bikes too. What
do we wear?
- lycra type clothing, as this is most appropriate and
comfortable. New
Riders - if
you are interested in riding with us or joining one of our social
evenings, contact Mike or Steve
for a chat. We
would be pleased to hear from you; additionally you can read the Notes
for New Riders here. This site is updated on a regular basis so please check back for updates; details of contacts for both the club and website queries can be found here. |
